Creating a Sustainable Small Business

Creating a Sustainable Small Business

Building Life of Daisy Co.: Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Life of Daisy Co., we believe that sustainability and style go hand in hand. When I started this brand, I knew I wanted to create something that not only looked good but also did good—for our planet, for small businesses, and for the incredible artists whose work brings our products to life. That’s why every part of our business, from sourcing materials to packaging orders, is built with eco-consciousness in mind.

Handmade with Love: Committing to Slow Fashion

Every product at Life of Daisy Co. is handmade by me, ensuring quality craftsmanship and ethical production. Unlike fast fashion brands that mass-produce items with little regard for sustainability, we focus on "slow fashion"—creating thoughtful, durable, and unique pet accessories that reduce waste and promote mindful consumption. By making everything by hand, I can ensure that each piece is made with care and intention, rather than being part of an unsustainable cycle of overproduction.

Supporting Small Businesses & Artists

Over 60% of our materials—including fabrics, vendor display items (signage, stands), bandana labels, and mailers—come from small businesses and independent graphic artists. By doing this, we ensure that every purchase supports other creators and entrepreneurs, helping to grow a community of makers who share our values.

Zero Fabric Waste: Repurposing & Upcycling

At Life of Daisy Co., no fabric goes to waste! Any scraps from our bandana-making process are transformed into coasters, scrunchies, bookmarks, and other small accessories. But what about those teeny-tiny fabric pieces that are too small to repurpose? We send them to Retold Recycling, a company dedicated to upcycling textiles that would otherwise end up in landfills. Retold Recycling ensures that every fabric scrap finds a new life—whether it’s turned into insulation, carpet padding, or new textiles.

Eco-Friendly Packaging & Displays

We avoid plastic wherever possible—whether at pop-up events or in shipping orders. Our vendor display features wooden signs, fabric baskets, and cloth table coverings instead of plastic alternatives. For packaging, we opt for paper bags at in-person events, and for shipping, we use recyclable poly mailers from Graceful Mailers.

Giving Fabrics a Second Chance with $5 Mystery Bandanas

Sustainability doesn’t stop at scraps—we also ensure that extra fabrics and older prints don’t go to waste. That’s why we offer $5 "Mystery Bandanas" made from deadstock or surplus materials, giving these beautiful fabrics a second life and offering our customers a fun, affordable way to shop sustainably.

Sustainability is a Journey

Creating an eco-friendly brand takes continuous effort, and we’re always looking for ways to improve. Our mission is to provide stylish, high-quality pet accessories while making thoughtful choices that reduce waste, support small businesses, and lessen our environmental footprint.

Thank you for being a part of our journey! Every purchase you make helps us continue our commitment to sustainability. 🌿🐶💚
